About Us

Who we are.

We are a couple of 25-year-old Americans from Michigan. After graduating from the University of Michigan and spending six weeks in (wonderful but expensive) Western Europe, we were broke and had to return home to find jobs. After two years of hard work and saving our money, neither of us were ready to become “adults” yet, so we came up with a brillant idea: let’s quit our real-world jobs! Let’s blow our hard-earned savings on an eight month journey around the world!

MattMatt was a management consultant where he was able to do exciting things like live in China and go to cool places like Russia, Thailand, Japan, and Iceland. As cool as this sounds, he gained 25 pounds and had to give up all his awesome hobbies like curling, video games, and annoying Jill.

JillJill was a civil engineer/water polo coach. Her hobbies include pretending she is Jack Bauer, imitating MC Hammer, and training her cat Rocky. She is trying hard to not be the cause of Matt returning home in a body bag.
