Contact us, seriously. Eight months of travel together, we are going to get sick of each others’ conversation in approximately yesterday, so please give us someone else to talk to!

    Jill and Matt:

I am fascinated by your wit, stamina and enduring interest as you continue to navigate your way around the world. I was hooked on day 51 but am truly amazed almost five months later. You are an inspiration!

    Erin,

I didn’t “make” him do anything (though his feet were quite gross) - it was completely his own idea and I didn’t even get one myself, I think it was a consequence of being stuck on a truck with 18 girls for so long. Just to set the record straight.

    Erin,

Jill made me get a pedicure on the beach because they were getting so disgusting

    Matt,

Are you getting a foot massage in Zanzibar?

  6. Robbie mine Jillon 06 Jun 2008 at 6:36 pm

Real classy Jill. You call your caring little sister so she can, what, change YOUR flights for YOU. I’m not going to say that you’re acting selfish, mean-spirited, and juvenile, but I think you can make that call for yourself. You’re supposed to smart, right Mrs. College Grad?

Anyway, I hope you are having a fabulous time on your second safari and that I miss you.

    Hi Jill,

I’m in awe of how sweet it is that you quit your job and are traveling around the world! I love it! Have fun. Someday I might need advice on how to do exactly what you’re doing.

    Jill,
Grandma Max told me about the website, and this is really neat! I feel like I am a world traveler too, thanks to digital pictures! You guys are getting to see some really cool things.

Looks like you are having a great time! Enjoy your enlongated vacation! You have some jealous cousins for sure!

  9. Dennis Glossonon 18 Apr 2008 at 12:34 pm

Hey Matt. Love the site. Can’t wait to spend some time reading about your adventures. I guess you made it through Carnival alive!!!! Hope you guys continue to have a safe journey. I had a great time in London and Paris. I just got back last week.

    Enjoy it.

So Melbourne…that’s where the Austrailians we met in France were from. RMIT…that’s all i remember. Maybe it stood for Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology? It had something to do with the queen of England, hence the Royal thingy. Anyways, while in france, the professors from all the countries gave a few speeches at the beginning of that convention and with it came a few pictures of each group’s homeland…and Melbourne, it looked a bit crazy, almost futuristic. Alot of the examples the one prof. showed us were almost depicting architecture as sarcasm, and not surprisingly, alot of the students seemed to design similarly to that idea. can’t wait to see more pictures! (and hopefully you two in germany! i promise, i’ll make a budget someday…maybe this weekend:)

  13. Ann Inmanon 03 Apr 2008 at 4:40 pm

    Looking forward to more updates.

  14. Robbie mine Jillon 27 Mar 2008 at 10:51 pm

So Jill, I just thought you should know that you are not the only one who is doing a bit of world travelling these days. I, myself, am flying to Chicago tomorrow so feel free to be jealous. And so you don’t wonder too much, I am flying because this weekend flights were really cheap and train/bus tickets were really expensive. Go figure.

and I agree, Lisa. While kiwis may not be my favorite fruit any longer (peaches have made a fast ascent), they are still easily in my top ten.

  15. Lisa Inmanon 23 Mar 2008 at 12:52 pm

I hope you enjoy the pictures of Rocky I sent you. I am also sending this message to make sure you got the pictures of Rocky, because it may not have worked…

and Kiwi’s are a good fruit Robbie

  16. Robbie mine Jillon 20 Mar 2008 at 10:52 pm

I see you are in New Zealand, Jill and Matt Lake, I bet you have seen quite a few kiwi birds there because thats where they are from.

    *TIDBIT ALERT*
Did you know, Jill and Matt Lake, that there was a period in time, around 3-5th grade that kiwis were my favorite fruits?

    Also,
Lisa, thank you for complimenting my attempt at creativity. Your comment makes it all worth it.

  17. Erin S.on 18 Mar 2008 at 9:14 am

So, I got your e-mail about Matt’s desire to be a farm-hand. You know, he could have done that in Reese, too! Maybe when you guys return he can head north and make some money for you two to move to the city. Oh, and he brings you, too:) You can pick up field stone, if you want! Anyways, my tax return was more than favorable, and so, without actually making a budget (who does that!), I would like to say I will meet you guys in Europe, preferably in Germany & Austria. I’ll eventually play some numbers, though, and just make sure I can go…even though I’d probably go, anyways:) Well, hope you’re doing well, and I miss you, jillie!

  18. Jackie Ruthmanon 15 Mar 2008 at 8:40 am

51 days and counting - so glad you continue to smile and share your adventure! This website is the greatest!

  19. Lisa Inmanon 13 Mar 2008 at 1:50 pm

Yeah, Mom, show those pictures to Rocky… I bet he gets mad at Jill.

His own momma is off playing with another kitty, and not him. tut tut.

The Kubie birds are cute, are they really wild there?

  20. Ann Inmanon 12 Mar 2008 at 7:23 pm

    Jill,
Looks like you’ve seen Rocky and Kubie recently. The penguins are awfully cute… maybe that’s your next pet.

  21. Lisa Inmanon 09 Mar 2008 at 8:23 pm

    Robbie mine Jill eh?

    creative Robbie.

  22. Robbie mine Jillon 07 Mar 2008 at 3:19 pm

So the other day, this one guy I know was bragging to me that he went to Florida and the Dominican Republic over spring break. That’s when I told him that these two wonderous people I know (that would be you two, Jill and Matt Lake) are travelling the ENTIRE WORLD. Unfortunately, though, it really wasn’t a great argument for my case because I am not travelling the world and going to Florida and the Dominican Republic is a much cooler thing to do over spring break than staying in Michigan so I still lost the argument (yes, I know, there’s a first for everything).

  23. Lisa Inmanon 07 Mar 2008 at 12:25 pm

    hi little one.

  24. Lisa Inmanon 24 Feb 2008 at 6:26 pm

I never imagined going to Quincy would be part of your world travels.

  27. Pam Gruberon 13 Feb 2008 at 7:41 am

    Hi Jill and Matt!
Just wanted you to know we’re having a great time following your travels on line. We all want to be YOU about now. Too much snow here so we’re heading to the Mayan Riviera for a week. Yeah! Keep the posts and photos coming. John really wants to go to Rio, sleep in the Amazon and go to Iguassu Falls (have you been there yet?) for his 50th b-day. Oh boy! Stay well and take care of each other,
    Love,
    Mrs. Gruber

Just in case you guys were missing Detroit…I thought I would remind of the greatness of this city. I had a patient come into the ER yesterday with a cucumber shoved up his butt…a whole one.

  33. Jan Slayon 31 Jan 2008 at 8:32 am

I am so jealous of the great time ahead of you. I have always wanted to go to Brazil! I hope that you and Jill have a wonderful time in all of the places that you visit.

When I told Chelsea what you had planned, she wondered if you could collect some coins from the different places that you travel to? We would, of course, reimburse you.

Matt, I hope you have a great place planned for your birthday, enjoy!

Enjoy your time, but watch out for lunatics.

    Love,
    Aunt Janice

  34. Ann Inmanon 30 Jan 2008 at 7:12 pm

    Jill and Matt,

I hope DisneyWorld was all you had hoped for. Now on with the real adventure!!

  35. Dan O'Hareon 24 Jan 2008 at 7:50 pm

Jill, it’s been a pleasure knowing you. Every journey has a purpose, so make sure you have one. Also, watch out for hippos, tigers, lions, hienas, crocodiles, cheetahs, and other dangerous creatures. Be careful about the water and other things.

Matt, I never really got to know you, but just take care of Jill for the Polo team. She was a hell of a coach, and we hate having to lose her. But just have a great time and remember us back in Troy.

Also, Jill, you better take a lot of pictures (and put it in the scrapbook :D).

    Keep us posted.

  36. Big Maon 23 Jan 2008 at 8:39 pm

    Matt & Jill,

Godspeed in your journey. We will miss you much while you are gone but proud of your adventurous spirit. Be kind to strangers and to one another. Please be safe and enjoy every minute.

    Senator Maher

  37. Erin Maheron 23 Jan 2008 at 8:08 am

Ok, you guys are too funny! Have a great trip!! You can always earn your life savings back by babysitting little Liam:)

    Have fun,
    Erin

  38. Rachelon 22 Jan 2008 at 9:40 am

How could you possibly want to leave beautiful Detroit?

Bowling and kickball just won’t be the same without “J-Bones”.

    Have fun!

    Rachel
